From "Slow Food" a First Level Course on Wine Staff Writer - October 24, 2004
The 'Master of Food', or the first università del gusto (taste university) is back. Within the scope of the school, the 'Valle Telesina' Slow Food chapter organizes a First Level Course on Wine in collaboration with the Gal Titerno, (Gruppo Azione Locale, or Local Action Group from Titerno).
The course will be held at the Centro Interattivo di Degustazione (Interactive Tasting Center) of the Gal Titerno, located at the headquarters of the Comunità Montana del Titerno (Titerno Mountain Community) in Via Telesina 174, in Cerreto Sannita, in the Benevento province. The six-lesson course will teach the basic techniques for correct wine tasting.
The event is directed to anyone who wants to know more about wine, that is pairing enological education with pleasure. In fact, for some time a growing number of people have been dissatisfied with just drinking wine, and now feel the necessity of understanding it better, discovering its history, the varieties, as well as the trivia of wine. Because of this, the lessons are focused particularly on visual, olfactory, taste, and taste-olfactory examinations. However, other subject such as how to serve wine, pairing it with food, storage and wine laws will be examined.
The cost of the course is 220.00 Euros (165.00 Euros for Slow Food members) and includes all teaching materials as well as wine to be tasted. At the end of the course participants will receive a diploma and credits for those who want to continue studying toward the 'Master of Food'.
The class schedule is as follows: November 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 27th and December 1st and starting time is 8:00pm
The number of participants is limited to 25 people and the enrollment deadline is October 30, 2004 (or when the class is full).
