GRAPPA

Grappa is a spirit produced by extracting the alcohol from vinacce, or marks, the skins and seeds left in the fermenting tanks after the wine is transferred to casks for ageing.

It used to be a poor man's drink, made illegally by Italian peasants to extract everything possible from the grape and good for keeping warm in the winter. Today however, with emphasis on quality rather then quantity, wineries from all over Italy produce excellent grappa that maintains the characteristics of the original grapes and competes on the international markets with the best alcoholic drinks worldwide.
