WineCountry.it Gold Medal

Welcome to Volume 1, Number 4 of Wine News, the e-letter from the WineCountry.IT network.

Last week we sent out a special edition of the e-letter to point out the December 12, 2003 deadline for registering with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as requested by the new Bio Terror Act. We want to remind our readers that this is a very important law whichpresents some difficulties for the American companies as well.

If your company imports or exports food or beverages to the US, including pet foods, your goods will be held at the US port of entry unless provided by the ID number provided by the FDA upon registration of your business.

According to the FDA, as of Wednesday, November 25, 2003 fewer than 15% of the foreign companies currently exporting food or beverages to the United States had applied for the mandatory registration. As we announced in our Special edition of the e-letter, we have contacted FDA Agents, Inc., one of the leading US agents (as required by the new law) in the effort to help our readers register with the FDA before the December 12, 2003 deadline.

We are happy to announce that we have agreed with FDA Agents, Inc. to give a 10% discount to companies who use their services through WineCountry.IT. In addition, FDA Agents, Inc. will pay another 10% to WineCountry.IT as a bulk refund for our services.

However, if your company would rather register directly with the FDA or use a different agent than FDA Agents, Inc., we invite you to do so as soon as possible. We reaffirm that this new law known as Bio Terror Act changes drastically importation, exportation and distribution rules of food and beverages within the United States. This measure affects all foreign companies that export, store, transform and/or transport such goods.

Back to our regular e-letter, on Wine News and the news sections of the recently launched Club del Vino Italiano, in Italian, and Italian Wine Hub, in English, as usual you will find interesting articles that affect the Italian enogastronomical world in addition to important dates to remember in the next 30 days. The articles come from Italy, Europe, the United States and the rest of the world.

We also associated with Amazon.com to open two new sections of our online store.

  1. Wine Accessory Store: Check it out to find selected fine wine accessories at greatly discounted prices.
  2. Gourmet Food Store: Check it out to find selected fine gourmet foods at exceptional prices.

The Company of the Month for December 2003 is Dorigo, a commercial farm from Friuli whose care in growing quality grapes and producing quality wines has won it well-deserved commercial success.

The staff of WineCountry.IT network wishes a Happy Holiday season to all of our readers!

Happy reading!
