Hi there, it's time again for our monthly virtual contact.
At WineCountryt.IT, L.L.C. we are currently busy preparing the 12th Italian Flavor Forum, which will be held once again at the Museo Italo-Americano, the museum dedicated to the Italian heritage and culture, as well as the impact the Italian-American community had in the San Francisco Bay Area, in California, and in the US.
As usual, the Italian wine and food educational event is organized under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco. This time we will pour around 100 small production, Italian quality wines, about half of which are presented for the first time in the US.
Given the over 300 native grapes found in Italy, guests to the Italian Flavor Forum XII will be sure to taste something different and intriguing, in addition to the well known favorites, such as Sangiovese in its various version, including a selection of Chianti wines from various sub-zones, Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, Rosso and Nobile di Montepulciano, among others.
Without further ado, I'll leave you to the following articles. Happy reading and enjoy the springtime, which is finally arrived in many parts o Europe and the US after a long, weird winter.

As we continue the introduction presentation of Italy's 155 products of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO, or, in Italian, DOP, Denominazione di Origine Protetta) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI, or IGP in Italian, Indicazione Geografica Protetta).

This month we present a domestic animal which, because of its characteristics, due partially to the traditional breeding method and the type of feeding, received the DOP classification by the European Union in 2006: the Gran Suino Padano DOP or Great Swine from the Padana Valley. This type of pig is in fact bigger and has unique characteristics, not found in other swine grown in Italy or elsewhere in the world.
