Wine News - December 2004 |

Bruno Petronilli, our frisky Accidental Enotourist, tells us about the introduction of a new, and to our judgment overdue, trade show dedicated exclusively to wines made with grapes from Italian native vines, the first annual "Vitigno Italia" that will take place in Naples, from June 3rd to June 5th, at the Mostra d'Oltremare (Overseas Exhibition).
Then, as this is a time of the year dedicated to holiday toasts, Bruno gives us the result of the Moscato d'Asti bubbly wine tasting that the "Spirito diVino" magazine panel did for the Christmas issue of the magazine. We thank the director from the heart for allowing us to publish the results.

Welcome to Volume II, Number 12a, the Special Holiday Edition of Wine News, the e-Letter from the WineCountry.IT network. (If you have problems visualizing the e-letter, please click here to see the online version in your browser window. Usa il link seguente se vuoi leggere la Versione Italiana).
Dear friends, and users of WineCountry.IT, the staff and associates of our network join in a virtual chorus to wish you happy holidays and prosperous 2005, twice as rich and rewarding as the year that is about to end.
For WineCountry.IT this year has been full of events and has brought us some gratifying successes, pleasant associations and strong growth, both as users of our sites and as contributors and associates.
Briefly, here are our highlights for 2004:
- Launch of two new web sites, one in Italian dedicated to Italian wine labels, ABC vino, and its English counterpart, Italian Wine Labels.
- Daily visitors to our web sites increased by over 150 percent.
- Pages viewed increased by almost 300 percent.
- Daniele Bondi, a Modenese writer, gave us a year's worth of precious interviews with the chefs and sommeliers of the Restaurant and Hotel Management School from Serramazzoni, Italy.
- Bruno Petronilli, national director of the L'Espresso magazine "Hotels and Restaurants Guide", and well-appreciated contributing writer to Spirito diVino, Monsieur, and various other magazines, wrote an "almost monthly" column for us entitled "Accidental Enotourist".
- Rosa D'Ancona, contributing journalist for the economy, social policies, regional enogastronomy and emigration sections for numerous magazines, wrote a great article for us about the "Rosso di Sicilia" ("Sicilian Red") event, just as the year is about to end. We hope that this will be the first step toward a long and satisfying association.
Renewing our holiday greetings, we look forward to 2005, certain that it will bring new opportunities that we can experience and share with our readers, users and associates.
Loris Scagliarini
