|
Finally, with some apprehension, the Accidental Enotourist begins his journey with WineCountry.IT readers.
I cannot hide my pride in my daily job, though at times I regard it as an exhausting, though wonderful, intellectual sentence. In the coming months, I look forward to sharing the most interesting anecdotes of my life as a wandering enogastronomy critic with WineCountry.IT readers.

Welcome to Volume II, Number 08 of Wine News, the e-Letter from the WineCountry.IT network. (Versione Italiana)
IMPORTANT NOTICE |
We hereby inform all our advertisers that as of July 13, 2004 Mirco Bigi and Fabrizio Barrasso, along with their company, Team Italia, sometimes known as GBF Gaia Servizi, are NOT representing WineCountry.IT on the Italian market.
We will announce the name of the new marketing agency that will represent our network exclusively in Italy at the beginning of Fall. |

|
 |
We continue with the new layout of the e-Letter for another month and, with the September issue, we will decide which way to go based on your input.
This month we proudly introduce a new column called 'Accidental Enotourist', written by Bruno Petronilli, one of the best appreciated Italian food and wine writers. He's great and we hope that you enjoy this feature.
This month, Chef Davide Dalloco of the School for Hotel and Restaurant Management of Serramazzoni answered our questions about the Italian tradition of the primi piatti, or "first course", pasta or soup dishes served between the hors d'oeuvres and the main course.
In "The Company of the Month" column for August we are proud to introduce Federvini, the Italian association that represents Industrial Producers, Exporters and Importers of Wines, Spirits, Syrups and Vinegars and Similar Products.
This month we are also featuring an article by our president, Loris Scagliarini, in which he explains that the famous Spaghetti Bolognese is a non-Italian misconception and is actually a distortion of Tagliatelle al Ragú, or the real dish served in Bologna and throughout the Emilia region and Italy.
We remind you that all the articles listed below are available in their English version on WineCountry.IT, Italian Wine Hub and Italian Wine Labels, while the Italian versions are published in a different section of WineCountry.IT, Vino Italiano Club and ABC Vino.
As usual, the 'Dates to Remember' close the monthly e-Letter.
The staff of WineCountry.IT network wishes all our subscribers happy reading and a joyful summer as Italy approaches almost perfect August standstill! |

Italy's Greatest Hit (Second of 5 Parts) |
| |
The Cinque Terre seen by an American tourist.
We climbed through vineyards defiantly perched along slopes, through densely packed forests and across streams and stepped on paths that were as narrow as a foot wide. Ascending the terraces alongside the trail are mechanized single rails for moving small train cars of workers, equipment and grapes up and down the steep hillsides during harvest.

An insightful Canadian point of view about the state of organic products in Italy.
Scene 1: Fresh hand rolled pici pasta; well-dressed folks cycling to the outdoor markets to fill their baskets with spring artichokes, rapini greens and long fat fava beans; buffalo milk mozzarella so fresh it was made only hours before lunch; old olive groves and vineyards around every picturesque corner of countryside.
