WineCountry.it Gold Medal

Welcome to Volume II, Number 05 of Wine News, the e-Letter from the WineCountry.IT network. (Versione Italiana)

We opened the month with Verona's Vinitaly, the exciting wine event that is the perfect expression of Italian commitment to quality, culture and tradition in all matters wine and food related. There we met some of the most well respected players in the world of Italian and international wine.

Upon returning, we got ready to launch a new monthly column written by a mysterious associate who goes by the name of Ciacco. The only Ciacco that we ever heard of was condemned to eternal punishment in the Third Circle of Dante Alighieri's Inferno, or the Circle where Gluttony is punished. Our Ciacco however, is alive and well and every month will take us around the Italian wine regions in a lusty enogastronomical tour of Italy featuring traditional regional recipes, typical specialties and wine pairing.

For this month's "The Chef's Corner" column, Daniele Bondi met with Pastry Chef Giuseppe Gagliardi, of the School for Hotel and Restaurant Management of Serramazzoni. They talked about the typical traditional pastries and desserts of the Emilia-Romagna region.

As if this weren't enough, you can look forward to more new features and surprises from us in the next few months.

In addition to a report on Vinitaly, we have published two parts of a four-part article dedicated to the next MiWine First Annual. This is the latest wine event, dedicated to professionals only, that will take place in Milan, Italy starting next June 14, 2004. Our e-Letter will also bring you the usual variety of articles as well as the 'Dates to Remember' in the month ahead. The articles listed below are published in English on WineCountry.IT, Italian Wine Hub and Italian Wine Labels. The Italian versions are published in a different section of WineCountry.IT, Vino Italiano Club and ABC Vino.

"The Company of the Month" for May 2004 is the Consortium for the Guardianship ot the Strada dei vini Bresciani del Garda.

The staff of WineCountry.IT network wishes all our subscribers happy reading!
