Alba: Seventy-fifth White Truffle Festival

Truffle: 'Delicious and perfumed' are the adjectives that come to mind thinking about the precious Tuber Magnatum Pico (botanical Latin name of this kind of truffle), a true rarity found exclusively in Alba, Langhe and Roero. During the fall, it is a tradition to celebrate the abundant products provided by this generous countryside.
From September to November, starting with the grape harvesting and going on with the prized truffle search, local administration, enterprises, organizations and citizens get together and organize a series of events that culminate with the International auction of the most prized truffle in the world, and the Alba Qualità tastings (See program below).

The truffle market has always been the core of the Festival. The 'Trifolao' (local dialect for 'truffle hunters'), arriving from overnight journeys in secret gorges and valleys, present the fruit of the hunt, the true treasure from the land, fragrant and ready to titillate taste buds prepared in traditional Piedmontese recipes.
At that point, picking truffles won't be just the privilege of few skilled hunters or searchers anymore, but an extraordinary experience for all tourists.
The first taste will be offered to all visitors of Alba Qualità, one of the many events on the agenda, at the Palazzo Mostre e Congressi (Trade Show and Convention Palace) , with a virtual tour of the underground world of Truffles.
