Wine Chalices of the Stars

Calici di Stelle, Italian for "Wine Chalices of Stars", is a national event traditionally organized August 10th in certain prestigious Italian piazzas that have reached out to the wineries this year. On this magic Saint Lorenz night, framed by suggestive historic centers, when the stars appear to rain from the sky, Bacchus bounty is celebrated with poetry, music and dances. Thousands of tourists, both Italian and foreign cheer on the best wines of local wineries, washing down with tem tasty local specialty foods.
The Wine Chalices of the Stars has two goals: to spread wine culture and the knowledge of the specialty foods from the various area. The event is both emotional and cultural at the same time. Locals and tourists meet and mingle strolling along old downtown alleys and courtyards, checking out the eno-gastronomic roots of the farthest corners of Italy.
Wine Chalices of the Stars is organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Movement for Wine Tourism) in collaboration with the Associazione delle Città del Vino (Association of the Wine Cities).
