The second 'International Pinot Grigio Competition' took place in Valdadige on June 20, 2006, organized by the council of Brentino Belluno, in the Italian province of  Verona, under the supervision of Centro Studi Assaggiatori (Taster Study Center), and with the patronage of the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine).

The tasting committees, composed by international wine experts and technicians, awarded two Grand Gold Medals, one to Germany and one to France, 27 Gold Medals, and one Silver Medal. On the occasion, a tasting committees composed by journalists from from Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Spain and The Netherlands assigned the mentions for the Press Award to one wine for each participating country.

  • Six countries took part in the competition (Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Hungary and the US)

  • The awarded wines could not be more than 30% of the total entrees and each category must gained the following scores:
    • Grand Gold Medal: 90 points or more
    • Gold Medal: 85 points or more
    • Silver Medal: 80 points or more
