According to Italian Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Gianni Alemanno, the agriculture and food fairs of Verona and Parma must work together. He also said that Verona is back in the spotlight as candidate host city for the headquarter for the agriculture and food authority.

Minister Alemanno said as much in opening the celebration for the fortieth annual Vinitaly, the world's largest wine exhibition, which has come to include gastronomy, oil and agriculture as well.

Vinitaly's brand and reputation are by now well known not just in Italy, but abroad as well, thanks to the yearly good will tour that takes Italian wine promotion from Veronafiere to various countries around the world, including US, China and India.

"Verona and Parma," said minister Alemanno in presenting the 40th annual of the event, which this year will take place from Thursday, April 6, to Monday, April 10, 2006, "are the two Italian capitals of the (enogastgronomic) sector, and it is necessary that (these cities) be enabled to constitute a wider (promotional) system capable of working overseas as well."

In addition the minister declared that "the choice for the headquarters for the agriculture and food authority, obviously will be one of the subjects faced by the next legislature. Though there are many candidates, I have already announced that Verona is the most qualified candidate."
