Wine Masters Challenge 2004 - Sixth World Wine Contest

The Wine Masters Challenge 2004 - Sixth World Wine Contest, which takes palce in Estoril, Portugal on March 26, 27, 28, 2004, is a legitimate tribute to wine experts, producers, distributors, retailers, clubs, official organizations, regulating commissions, specialized press and everyone worldwide directly or indirectly connected to wine.

Despite being fairly recent, this event has already been deemed by experts in wine to be one of the best of its kind and its organization, selection and voting parameters, highly demanding.

This contest has the support of Portuguese representatives of F.I.J.E.T. - World Federation of Travel Writers, Menu Magazine, and Wine Masters Press Club. It is a unique unparalleled event, noticed by professionals and published by journalists all over the world.

The Sixth Wine Masters Challenge 2004 is open without limitation to all wines produced within the scope of international standards.

The wine tasting will take place on March 26th, 27th and 28th in Estoril, Portugal.


Rules and Condition of Participation

  1. PRODUCTS ELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION
    The VI Wine Masters Challenge 2004 is open without limitation to all wines coming within the scope of international standards.
    There is no limit to the number of samples that may be entered in the Contest.
  2. OFFICIAL REGISTRATION
    A registration form must be supplied for each individual wine entered in the contest. Copies, faxes or emails of the registration form are valid. The deadline for enrolment is noon February 15, 2004.

  3. SAMPLES
    Samples consisting of four liters (About one gallon) of wine, must be supplied for each individual wine entered in the contest.
    The samples of wine entered in the contest must be supplied in exact same format as the wine for retail sale, i.e. with front and back labels. Samples with hand-written labels and/or erasures will be rejected. Samples should be postmarked no later than February 15, 2004 to the following address:

  4. MAILING INSTRUCTIONS
    The outside of each box must be clearly marked with the words 'Wine Masters Challenge 2004- Sixth World Wine Contest' and each box must be accompanied by respective laboratory analyses performed by an officially recognized laboratory in accordance with the legislation in force in the country of origin. Wines sent to this contest should be delivered with no charges or customs duties due. All documents should be sent in water proof envelopes.
    The samples must be accompanied by copy of the bank transfer. Any participant not complying with the above regulations will be automatically disqualified.
  5. INTERNATIONAL JURY
    The International Jury of the Wine Masters Challenge consists of 120 experts from 41 countries.
    The tasting of each wine is undertaken in accordance with international standards and computerized technology.
  6. PRIZES
    Prize-winning wines will be distinguished with any of the following medals and diplomas: Gold Vine Leaf, Silver Vine Leaf and Bronze Vine Leaf. If you cannot be present at the award ceremony, awards will be mailed to you C.O.D.
    The Wine Masters Challenge 2004 holds the international rights to the self-adhesive stamps to be placed on each bottle of prize-winning wines. They will be supplied at your request by the Contest Executive Committee. Cost per 1000 is 75 Euros or USD.
  7. NOTIFICATION OF AWARDS
    Winners will be notified no later than 30 days after the contest
    Each prize-winning wine will be given a diploma identifying the name of the wine, producer, region and country. 
  8. GENERAL CONDITIONS
    Participants in the Wine Masters Challenge 2004 must accept and agree to all standards and rules of participation herein stated.
    There shall be no right to appeal any jury decision.
    Any dispute arising from the Challenge shall be referred to the Cascais Law Court and no other.

    The cost of each entry in the competition is €125.

  10. PROGRAMME
    The wine tasting will take place on March 26th, 27th and 28th in Estoril, Portugal.
    The award ceremony will be held at the end of October 2003 at a Gala Dinner in Estoril Casino.
