Bologna's Teatri di Vita (Theaters of Life) presents Teatri di Vite (Vine Theaters) Staff Writer - September 23, 2005
Bologna, the Italian city known as 'The Fat One' (as in rich food), should also be known as 'The Creative One'. In fact, Bologna proposes once more an original, innovative way to marry art with wine, or the love for Earth's fruits and the love for art.
After the great success of last year's first annual, the Bolognese theater Teatri di Vita, reprises the series Teatri di Vite, a program that celebrates live theater as a true social rite, by grafting wine culture to it, which represent a form of passion and cultural sensibility of its own.
As was the case last year, Teatri di Vita presents various international plays and contemporary dance shows, pairing each with with a quality wine producer, who will be pouring tastings of his wines before and after the show.
The performing dance show entitled London Calling, for instance, will present three new opening shows paired to three exceptional Italian wines.
On September 30 and October 1st, starting at 9:00PM, the show onstage is Retrospective Exhibitionist by New York performer Miguel Gutierrez, while the wines poured will are Grave Sauvignon 2004 and Chianti 2004 by Cantine di Volo Rosso (Red Flight Winery).
On October 7, and 8, the presentation of Piel, by the Madrid, Spain-based group Provisional Danza, is paired by the Gavi DOCG 2004 Tassarolo wine by the Castellari Bergaglio winery.
On October 13, and 14, the show Ooff by London, England-based Rotozaza, is paired with two Chiantis by the Cantine Chianti Geografico: the Chianti Classico Geografico 2003 and the Chianti Riserva Montegiachi 2001.
Should spectators (and actors) need some information about a specific wine, or advice on how to pair it with food, expert sommeliers by the Bologna chapter of the AIS (Associazione Italiana Sommeliers or Italia Sommeliers Association), will be at hand , willing to to educate anyone curious enough to ask.
The wineries already presented atTeatri di Vita include: Donnafugata, Drei Donà, San Patrignano, Livio Felluga, Calatrasi, Lungarotti, Duca di Casalanza, Accademia dei Racemi, Tenuta di Ghizzano, Fattoria Paradiso, Masciarelli, Terre Cortesi Moncaro, Lodi Corazza, Ciccio Zaccagnini, Santadi, Feudi di Romans, and Romolo Monteverdi.
