Vitigno Italia: The First Trade Show Dedicated to the Wines From Italian Native Vines Staff Writer - December 15, 2004
The Vitigno Italia, or Vineyard Italy, the first trade show dedicated to wines made from Italian native and traditional grapes which will be held in Naples, at the Mostra d'Oltremare (Overseas Exposition) from June 3rd to June 5th, 2005, was introduced to the international and professional press in Sorrento, on December 13.
The event, that was organized by ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Marketing) Naples' chapter, was attended by representatives of the Agricultural Politics Ministry, Production Ministry, Campania regional administration and Naples provincial administration.
Chicco De Pasquale, president of Vitigno Italia, opened the press conferences highlighting the strong points of the trade show. "The Italian wine tradition, today represents what's new in the international wine markets and offers producers a window of opportunity for the next ten years, that is to market the Italian products and image worldwide. We imagined," continued De Pasquale, "a new trade show that represents all of Italy in a virtual journey from north to south and vice versa, thus making it easy for visitors identifying the geographical origin of each product. The Mostra d'Oltremare will be then shaped after the Italian boot."
The trade show was organized with sector professionals in mind, but will include wide spaces dedicated to wine lovers, including many collateral events such as awards, the creation of wine labels with the support of Naples' Accademia delle Belle Arti (Academy of Arts), tasting and workshops.
The ICE, that partnered with Vitigno Italia for the event, invited over 30 foreign journalists from Japan, China, United States, Russia, Holland, Germany, England, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and France. At the press conference was represented by Domenico Ciccarelli, director of Naples ICE chapter.
Raffaele Cercola, president of Naples'Mostra d'Oltremare, where the trade show will be held from June 3rd to June 5th, 2005, is thrilled by the initiative, as this will be the first enological event in the area since the 1960s.
Vitigno Italia has encountered the favor of all the public institutions, as the show follows into the suggested track of promoting and internationalize the "made in Italy", as the delegates from the Production Ministry, Carlo Lamura, from the Agriculture and Forests Ministry, Rosario Lopa, the regional councilor, Gianfranco Alois, and the provincial councilor, Francesco Borrelli.
