The Longest Wine Tasting of the Year Staff Writer - December 12, 2004
From 9:30PM on Friday, December 31, 2004 well into January 1, 2005, as an alternative to the typical Italian cenone (literally, "big dinner") and/or disco club, the Enoteca/Tisaneria (Wine Bar/Tea House) Enò in Lugo di Romagna, propose 'la degustazione più lunga dell'anno', or 'The Longest Wine Tasting of the Year', that starts in 2004 and ends in 2005.
The wine list prepared by sommelier Fabiola Collini, will include great Italian reds such as:
- Amarone DOC 1999 (Veneto)
- Musella Syrah IGT 2002 - Planeta (Sicily),
- Sangiovese di Romagna Fermavento DOC 2003 - Madonia (Emilia Romagna)
and a sparkling white,
- Moscato d'Asti DOCG 2003 - Villa Giada (Piemonte)
as well as imported wines:
- Merlot Reservado 2000 - Carpe Diem (Chile)
- Chardonnay 2004 - Don Cristobal (Argentina).
The traditional midnight toast will be made with a "made in Italy" spumante (the identity of which is still a mystery at the time we upload this)
To accompany the six wines, there will be a luscious self serve buffet with meat and seafood paella, salumi (from cold cuts to prosciutto and more), rare cheeses, salted pies, stuzzicherai varia (little snacks and tapas), pastries, and more.
