Teatri di Vite, or Vine Theaters – When the Quality Wine Meets Contemporary Theater

If it's true that theater is but a social rite, the glass of wine drunk after the show could represent the ritual ending of a fine evening, especially if the wines come from the best wineries and are tasted in the knowledgeable company of professional sommeliers.

This is exactly what happens at Teatri di Vita ("Life Theaters", Via Emilia Ponente 485, Bologna, Italy). Here, innovative shows are preceded and followed by red and white wine tasting. World famous Italian and international wineries are participating in this promotional campaign with their best wines. Each producer is paired with a specific play as follows.

• Fattoria Paradiso pours its wines from October 20th to the 25th, paired with Pier Paolo Pasolini's "Orgia" (Orgy)
• Cantina Lungarotti pairs with "Otello" from November 5th to the 7th
• Cantina Masciarelli pours from the 19th to the 21st paired to "Kitsch Hamlet"
• Romolo Monteverdi (from Spain) pairs with "Female Macbeth" on December 3rd and 4th
• Terre Cortesi Moncaro closes with "Il Balcone di Giulietta" (Juliet's Balcony) from December 17th to the 19th.

There's something to satisfy all tastes… but, should one need some advice, AIS (Italian Association of Sommeliers) Bologna Chapter will be at hand to help the public, to describe each wine's characteristics and to suggest the best food pairings.
