Bookmark and Share From September 30 to October 4, 2010 the Umbria region will host over 600 sommeliers arriving from all over the world.

After the Basilicata region in 2009, this year will be the turn of the Umbria Region to host the 44th  annual sommeliers' congress. The most important event of the largest association of sommeliers in the world returns to Umbria after 16 years. The association represents over 32,000 members who perform their profession on a daily basis in Italy and overseas to educate consumers about, and promote, Italian wines.

The 2010 annual congress will be a truly exceptional event, with the participation of the congress of the Associazione Italiana Sommeliers (Italian Association of Sommeliers, or AIS) as well as of representatives from all the foreign delegations arriving from the United States, England, Germany, Russia, Japan, the Caribbean, Luxemburg, Belgium, Brazil and Scandinavia.

For five days, sommeliers, journalists, restauranteurs and opinion leaders of the wine world will meet and mingle, participating in conferences, seminary, educational get togethers, and visits to the most prized wine production zones of the Umbria region.
