Bookmark and Share Michele Florentino, a long time resident of the Principality of Monaco, is the owner of the well known Restaurant Amici Miei (Friends of Mine), at Port de Fontvieille, in Monte-Carlo, which caters to the international jet-setters, as patrons can see from the numerous photographs gracing the restaurant's walls. In addition, Florentino is a wine and food writer and is often invited to speak at conferences and conventions, and once again he is the splendid host of the MCW, or Monte-Carlo Wine Festival, the event dedicated to wine and food professionals, wine lovers and gourmands, which takes place from the 5th to the 7th of June 2010, in the Principality of Monaco, the unparalleled economic center of the Côte d'Azur.

Now at the third annual event, it has become an interconational appointment and will be held at the Hotel Mèridien Beach Plaza, located a short two-minute walk from the Grimaldi Forum Congress Center, and the only hotel in town with a private beach, one indoor and two outdoor swimming pools, and a fitness center. The main scope of the show is to promote vitiviniculture in general, and provide an upscale meeting hub to wine producing estates and international buyers, distributors as well as local hospitality and enogastronomy professionals, sommeliers and the press. In 2009, the event was featured in over 200 printed articles and was mentioned on at least 15 to 20 television and radio shows, including TG1, RAIUNO (Italian national TV and Radio), Eatparade, La Vita in Diretta (Life Live). In addition to wine, the show will present seminars on natural alimentation, production controls, security and hygienic norms in wine and food production.

Based upon research conducted by Michele Florentino, on January 2010, Italian Under Secretary to the Department of Health, Francesca Martini, launched a law prohibiting the use of additives in foodstuffs. The writ is currently effective in Italy only, but it could be adopted by the whole EU. This will be the subject of the First World Conference on 'Nutrition – Territory – Longevity', with the participation of Honorable Francesca Martini; General Director of Italian the Department of Health, Dr. Romano Marabelli; Monte-Carlo Ministry of Health, Dr. Stèphane Valeri; Professor Emila Costa, specialized in compulsive eating disorders; Professor Gianni Pes, teacher of Nutritional Science at the University of Cagliari, among other world experts.

Participating producers will have the opportunity of presenting and offering tastings of their products which, thanks to the careful selection supervised by Michele Florentino, will be certain to delight the more sophisticated palates of the wine lovers and gourmands participating in the event.

Many VIP guests participated in the previous MCWFs, including among others S.A.S. Prince Albert II; Italian Senator for Life, Giulio Andreotti; former Italian agriculture Minister and current President of the Veneto Regional administration, Honorable Zaia,; Italian UN Ambassador, Dr. Fulci; Secretary of State of the Principality of Monaco, René Novella; Principality of Monaco Ambassador in Italy, S.E.M. Blanchi; Karel Muzikar; Sir Roger Moore; Italian actor, Remo Girone; Italian singer, Amedeo Minghi; Italian showgirl, Simona Tagli. Among the guests expected to participate in the 2010 show are Italian TV host, Michele Cocuzza; Italian TV journalist, Marina Como; organizer of the Miss Italia contest, Patrizia Merigliani; and Italian singer, Amedeo Minghi.

The first 'Nutrition – Territory – Longevity' World Conference, will guide participants along a virtual itinerary among food, wine and environment, to discover little known Italian landscapes which seem locked in the past. As long as agriculture, sheep farming and food culture are part of the Italian lifestyle, some places will not change much from when the grandparents of the current producers were farming, and the Monte-Carlo Wine Festival 2010 wants to highlight such locations.
