From the 15th to the 18th of May 2009, the 73rd Mostra vini del Trentino (Trentino Wine Show), the most important event dedicated to wine and grappa produced in the region, takes place in Trento. Thanks to the 70 or so producers who, for four days will pour their wines and meet with buyers and wine lovers in two central locations – the Teatro Sociale (Social Theater) and the Palazzo Roccabruna, the city will become a drawing room of pleasant encounters.
Palazzo Roccabruna, which was reopened in November 2004 after a lengthy restoration, is the prestigious location which the local chamber of commerce selected to showcase and promote the region and its typical products.
The 2009 annual brings important news: Monday, May 18, 2009 will be reserved for business professionals. After all, wine and grappa represent a consistent chunk of the regional economy.
The Trentino region producers will take advantage of this important showcase to present or re-propose the local wine and grappas to passionate consumers and professional buyers alike. The producers will occupy the stage and stalls of the Teatro Sociale, while in the spaces dedicated to meetings and seminars, previews of the wine events planned for the coming months will take place. Such previews will include, among others, the tasting organized by the Associazione Italiana Sommeliers – sezione Trentino Trentino chapter of the Italian Association of Sommeliers) and the Associazione della Sommellerie Professionale Italiana (ASPI, or Association of the Italian Professional Sommellerie), the gourmand Laboratori del Gusto (Taste Labs) organized by Slow Food, the appointment with the Confraternita della Vite e del Vino (Brotherhood of the Vine and Wine) and the Strade del Vino e dei Sapori (Routes of Wine and Taste) organized in collaboration with the Accademia d'Impresa and O.N.A.V. (Organizzazione Nazionale Assssaggiatori di Vino, or National Organization of Wine Tasters).
TheEnoteca Provinciale (Provincial Wine Bar) housed at Palazzo Roccabruna, will offer customers all the labels presented at the Teatro Sociale for tasting, thus visitors will have the opportunity to taste and compare the wine making results obtained by different producers using the same grape varieties from the same vintage.
On Monday the 18th, professional buyers will take the place of wine lovers and consumers for the review entitled Quando il vino è un mestiere (When Wine is a Business). The presence of delegations from the organization Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe (French for 'Young Restauranteurs of Europe') and professional associations will add zest to the day's program. As usual, the Trentino chapter of the AIS will select the best provincial sommelier among the professionals and amateurs.
