First Annual Typical Product European Enogastronomy Press Release - May 8, 2004
From June 5 to 8, 2004 the Fiera di Roma (Rome Trade Center) will host the 'First Annual Typical Products of European Enogastronomy'. A flavorful and intelligent way to promote the DOP, IGP, STG, DOC, DOCG and IGT products from the various states that are part of the European Community.
For four days, visitors can taste a wide selection of wines, vegetable oils, cheeses, cold cuts and any kind of certified product. A pleasant and gratifying way to learn more about the regional products of Europe by way of a tasty trip through the various national gastronomy booths.
This is the dream for any respectable gourmet and curious food and wine lovers as well who, we are sure, will participate enthusiastically.
Sponsored by the European Union and Agea S.p.A., a multiservice company, three pavilions will be dedicated to food and wine booths and a fourth space will be available for meeting and conventions, for a total of 10,000 square meters. A pavilion will host the products from Lazio which, in this first important appointment, plays host to the rest of Europe. Another will be dedicated to the other 19 Italian regions, as Italy has the the largest number of certified products of the Union. in the the third pavilion there will be the products from the other European states that subscribed to the event.
The show represents but one part of an ambitious three-year project called Gusti d'Europa (Tastes of Europe), which will list the over 2,500 European certified products on a portal that is already live. The goal is to provide an exceptional information tool to both professionals and enthusiasts alike who may want to know more about a certain French cheese or Portuguese wine.
"Taste of Europe" however, will not satisfy just virtual curiosity. In addition to the first annual at the Fiera di Roma, a permanent compound is being organized at the "Casa dell'Agricoltura - Food House", in downtown Rome, where the products presented by the various state members will be kept.
Entry to the Fiera di Roma is free, from 10:00AM to 9:00PM, during the four days of the trade show.
