From Thursday, January 22, to Wednesday, January 28, 2009, the Consortium of the Brunello di Montalcino is organizing the US version of the event Benvenuto Brunello (Welcome Brunello), to introduce the new releases – 2004 and 2003 Riserva – in San Francisco, California, and New York City.

Following we provide the final, up-to-date program of the event.

  • San Francisco
    • Wine Tasting
      Thursday, january 22, from 11:00AM to 6PM
      Terra Gallery, 511 Harrison Street

    • Tasting of older vintages, plus lunch with journalists and producers
      Friday, January 23, at 12 noon
      Perbacco Restaurant, 230 California Street

  • New York
    • Brunello dinner with producers, distributors and journalists
      Monday, January 26, at 7:30PM
      Del Posto Restaurant, 85 Tenth Avenue

    • Seminar entitled "Expressions of Montalcino"
      Moderated by Karen Mc Neil, Chairwoman of the Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies at The Culinary Institute of America, Greystone. For 90 guests, including wine professionals and journalists.
      Tuesday, January 27, from 10:00AM to 12 noon
      New York Palace Hotel, Spellmann Room, 455 Madison Avenue

    • Press Conference
      Followed by lunch with producers and journalists
      Tuesday, January 27, at 12:30PM
      Villard Mansion Restaurant, at New York Palace Hotel, 455 Madison Avenue

    • Wine Tasting
      Wednesday, January 28, from 2PM to 9PM
      Hotel Hilton, 1335 Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue)

The associate producers who participate in the event must provide the following wines.

  • Side Events
    • For the dinner with older vintages in San Francisco, three bottles from the 1999 vintage and earlier.
    • For the Brunello Dinner in New York, two bottles of Rosso di Montalcino 2006 or 2007, and two bottles of Brunello di Montalcino 2003 or 2004.
    • For the lunch with the press in New York, two bottles of Rosso di Montalcino 2006 or 2007, and two bottles of Brunello di Montalcino 2003 or 2004.

  • Tasting in New York and San Francisco
    • Producers with their own tables are advised to provide 12 bottles of their top Brunello di Montalcino and six bottles of other Brunello vintage and Rosso di Montalcino, plus three bottles of Moscadello or Sant'Antimo wines.
    • Producers at the common table are advised to provide three bottles of Brunello di Montalcino as well as any other wine presented.

Among the estates who participate in the Benvenuto Brunello event, there is the Tenuta La Carlina, producer of the highly appreciated Brunello di Montalcino La Togata DOCG.
