Early in the morning I run a few errands in Castelfranco, then at around 10:30 Leonardo Pascucci Pepi and Seila Bruschi, of Mille Vigne (Thousands of Vineyards) an organization which represents a wide group of Tuscan estates, arrive from Siena. We discuss business for a couple of hours in our apartment, then we go to Ristorante La Griglia for a light lunch of Tortelloni di Zucca (Pumpkin Filled Pasta) and Verdure alla Griglia (Grilled Vegetables). We drink a bottle of Bolgheri Rosso by Azienda Agricola Ferrari Iris & Figli, brought by our guests.

In the afternoon, while Brigit repacks our luggage for the trip to Sardinia the next day, I select wines from the vast portfolio of Mille Vigne to present at the 12th Italian Flavor Forum, which will be held at the Museo Italo Americano of San Francisco, in California, on May 27, 2010.

Later we have dinner with my mom, which consists of the ususal mixed salad prepared by Brigit, Maccheroni al Pettine pasta with a vegetable sauce which I prepare from scratch, a selection of cheeses including Pecorino Sardo, Asiago, and fresh, creamy Stracchino, closing with fruit salad prepared by my mom. We pair the meal with frothy Lambrusco, as is almost always the case at my mom's place.
