Saturday, February 23, 2008: Monte Carlo Wine Festival, Opening
All in all I sleep probably a couple of hours, before getting up, hopping into the shower, grabing my heavy wheeled bag and going to the nearby train station where I take a regional train 2062 to Voghera, where I change to a European train 141 to Monte Carlo.
Cristo Lepori, WineCountry.IT marketing manager boards the train in Genoa, where he has arrived on the overnight from Rome.
Monte Carlo welcomes us with a balmy, springtime weather. We lunch at an outdoor table facing the ocean and are reached by Paolo Alciati, principal of QualityADV, the Italian agency who sells advertising spaces on WineCountry.IT's web sites network, along with his wife, Enza D'Amato.
Elvio Bonollo, of Distillerie Bonollo Umberto SPA from Padua, with one of the 850 numbered bottles of 'Spirit of Solidarity', a special Grappa di Amarone created especially for the MCWF.
