Italian WineGood news for Italian enology on the eve of the first edition of MiWine, the professional trade show held in Milan from June 14 to 16, 2004.

Reporting the Italian Wine and Food Institute data for the first quarter of 2004, Coldiretti stated that "the value of Italian wine being exported to the U S has risen by 10.2 percent, showing the best performance among the major wine producing countries. In fact, a 10.1 percent increase was reported for Australian wine imports, but the same period brought a 5.5 percent decrease of wine imports from Chile and a drastic 23.1 percent fall for French wine imports".

"This result allows Italy to maintain top national presence on the North American market, where a third of the money spent on imported wine is spent on Italian wine (33.3 percent) compared to 26.8 percent for Australian wines and only a fifth, or 21.4 percent, on French wines"
