Procissi Cellars: Second Annual Open House

On Sunday, April 29, 2007 in downtown historic Folsom, at the Procissi Wine Gallery at 627 Sutter Street, the Procissi's 2nd Annual Open House took place.
The event was important in many ways.
First of all, the event marked the release of the new Procissi Cellars wines, Wayne Procissi's own 2005 Sangiovese, the 2005 Petite Sirah, and the 2005 Cabernet Franc. The first two were poured at the event along with Wayne's Vintage Port and the prize winning Italian imports 2005 Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOC Spumante Extra Dry – Gorio, by Azienda Agricola Malibràn, and the 2005 Moscato D'Asti DOCG – Ventisei, by Azienda Vitivinicola Colledoro. These last two are imported by WineCountry.IT and distribute by Procissi Cellars in the Folsom / Sacramento area.
In addition, the event officially introduced the partnership of the Procissi Wine Gallery with the Fike Studio, which currently manages the art part of the gallery and has performed an "extreme makeover" on the gallery, which generated lots of "oohs" and "aahs" by the guests who participated in the wine tasting. The Fike Gallery is having its grand opening on June 9, 2007, from 10am to 8pm. Artist Eric Christensen, whose work can be seen online at Fike Studio, will be there with an original painting and several of his newest editions.
Another important introduction was the official launch of the Centellino, the amazing "top-of-the-bottle decanter" imported by WineCountry.IT and distributed in the Folsom / Sacramento area by Procissi Cellars. The Centellino is the result of Italian research and development and instantly transforms just-opened wine into properly decanted wine by way of oxygenation. I love when the cynical look of wine buffs and professionals alike, who think that the object is but the next hype in wine accessories, changes to one of amazement when they taste the wine poured straight from the bottles, and then from the Centellino.
Another noteworthy part of the Open House event is the fact that $375, part of the revenues, were raised to support the Prostate Cancer Awareness organization. Wayne and Barbara Procissi matched the amount for a total donation of $750.
Least but not last, a special thanks goes to Snooks Candies (Sutter Street, Historic Folsom). They took Wayne's Vintage Port and made some of the best truffles I've ever had. To top it off, they were kind enough to donate the truffles.
Numerous enthusiastic wine and art buffs showed up to enjoy both art and wine. All the paying guests participated in a raffle, whose prizes were three sets of Malibrán's designer ice buckets with a bottle of the prize winning 2005 Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOC Spumante Extra Dry – Gorio each. The three lucky winners turned out to be Kelly Ratekin, James Henry and Arzhange Safdarzadeh.
As usual, Barbara and Wayne Procissi were gracious, perfect hosts, and WineCountry.IT looks forward to their next event, eager to participate and land a hand as needed.
