After a rich Sicilian interpretation of continental buffet breakfast on the first floor's restaurant, we register for the walk-around tasting taking place on the ground floor restaurant of the hotel, just off the cloister, across from the hall. So, from 9:30am to 5:30pm, with an hour break from 1 to 2pm, for a yummy buffet lunch featuring regional specialties such as Pasta alle Sarde (pasta with freshly caught sardines) and Caponata (an eggplant based vegetable stew) among others.

Donna di Coppe wines at the Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa, Palermo After the tasting Brigit and I go up to our room for a shower and a little rest. I finally get up and join the rest of the guests for dinner at Focacceria San Francesco, a famed, characteristic eatery located just around the corner from the hotel, which is popular with locals and tourists alike. Brigit instead remains back at the hotel with the idea of dining on a couple of yogurts.
