The Italian National Institute of Agricultural Economics (INEA) has published the English version of the 16th edition of its annual booklet Italian Agriculture in Figures 2004.
As usual, the booklet contains the main facts and figures on all the various aspects of the Italian agrifood sector, ranging from economic and statistical details to information on legislative developments and economic policy.
Special attention is paid to emerging issues in the agricultural world such as environmental policy, the management of forests and protected areas, irrigation, organic farming, tourist and recreational services on farms and the production of quality commodities.
Figures for the ten new EU countries have been added to almost all the chapters of the booklet, and this has broadened the field of reference in which Italy's national figures are compared and assessed.
In addition to the publication of the results of the 5th Italian General Agriculture Census, the booklet contains a wide, detailed analysis of the structure of the Italian agricultural industry.
