He is part of the editorial team of the web magazine Athenœum, Ateneo dei sapori (Athenœum, University of Flavors). He is also editor-in-chief of the web magazine Cucina e Cantina (Cuisine and Cellar), and is the president of an association whose goal is the cultural advancement of quality wine and food.

He published Il Sagrantino di Montefalco, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo e I Vini dei Castelli Romani as well for the Vini in Viaggio series.
"A land of rare beauty, where colors appear as absolute expressions, almost as if the sun exalt all their chromatic potential," writes Spera in the introduction. "And the perfumes... one becomes inebriated by the perfumes of this area, which caress our sense of smell, carried by the wind which blows from the sea, or slides down hills and mountains. I dreamt of the image of ancient furrows from which the fruits planted by these proud, patient people sprang forth. I dreamt of when the wine produced by the sparse vine rows quenched the peasant families' thirst. An ancient message remained uninterpreted for so long, which now came to light thanks to the intuition, passion, and hard work of the population living in this part of Sicily. Today, their wines are able to tell this story."

The book, presented by Fabrizio Carrera, gourmet-journalist and director of the weekly online wine and food magazine cronachedigusto.it, recounts the province through its four geographic landmarks: sea, mountains, plains, hills. But there's more. In fact, the section entitled Itinerando con Gusto (Touring with Taste) describes the typical gastronomic products of the area and includes the traveling notes of the author, with useful advice about local restaurants.
