The Vinitaly US Tour 2009 took place on October 19 in Chicago, Illinois, and San Francisco, California, two days later, on October 21, 2009.

The 2009 annual Vinitaly US Tour presented 15 independent producers from eight different regions, four organizations, two importers, and one glass producer.
The program included three guided tastings entitled "Wines for Today's America", which featured the excellent 2004 Brunello di Montalcino La Togata by Tenuta La Carlina, which was awarded 95 points by the Wine Spectator magazine recently; "Wines of Sicily", and "Wines of the Marche Region."

La Togata wines, which are imported in California by WineCountry.IT, L.L.C., and in Illinois by Import Wines, were represented by the the estate marketing manager, Jeanneth Angel, during the walk-around wine tasting which took place from 2 to 6 in both locations. In Chicago, Angel was assisted by John Cressman, head of Import Wines, and in San Francisco, by Loris Scagliarini, WineCountry.IT, L.L.C. president, and WineCountry.IT, L.L.C. sales manager, Angelica Gianpaoli.

Both events were well attended, and the exchanges with the numerous buyers who paticipated in the tastings, suggest that the long standing recession has slowed down and trends are starting to change toward a slow recovery for the battered wine and restaurant businesses.

Walk-Around Tasting, San Francisco, CA.
In San Francisco, Angel, Scagliarini and Gianpaoli participated in the exclusive buffet-style dinner by invitation only, organized by Vinitaly and BuonItalia SpA at Perbacco restaurant, at 230 California Street, from 7:30 to 9:30.
