A Gastronomy Event Dedicated to the Balance of Flavors Staff Writer - August 18, 2007
The sixth annual I Piatti della Bilancia (The Plates of the Scale), will take place at Campogalliano, in the province of Modena, in the Emilia region of Italy, from October 1 to 31, 2007. The aim of this month-long event is to overturn the paradigm which pits the pleasure of fine dining against the scale, which judges us 'heavily'.
The home town of the only Italian museum dedicated to the scale organizes this unique gastronomy extravaganza with special recipes inspired by the device. For a full month, gourmands and all those who enjoy the pleasures of good food, are invited to patronize the participating restaurants, which will offer local delicacies, in €25 fixed price meals.
I Piatti della Bilancia offers exquisite recipes, which are the result of the creativity and taste of the region's chefs, who bring to the table a cuisine based upon local products, presented with simple elegance and supported by the natural quality of fresh seasonal ingredients. The event highlights the dedication and love for the fruits of the land, as well as the Emilian culinary tradition, which is typically based on the knowledgeable selection of natural ingredients, combined in creative, balanced, exquisite recipes.
The balance, or contrast, of fragrances and flavors, is the imposed theme mandated by the event's name. The previous annuals of I Piatti della Bilancia offered meals whose richness of flavor enchanted and satisfied the participating restaurant's patrons.

It is advised to reserve at least 24 hours in advance. The recipes presented during the event will remain on the menus of the participating restaurants for the whole year, provided that the fresh ingredients used are available.
