Caliscana: A Place for Quality Wines Staff Writer - July 2, 2007
Saturday, May 9, 2007, in via Umbria, at Capalbio Scalo, in the province of Grosseto, the new Caliscana store, open to the general public, was inaugurated. The winery, owned and founded by Roberto Crea, a worldwide renown scientist in biotechnology, is located at Poggetti, in the foothills of Capalbio, amid a cozy Tuscan Maremma landscape, which takes advantage of the daily Tyrrhenian Sea breeze.
The philosophy that drives the labor in the vineyard originates from the most genuine Tuscan tradition, which requires that the grape be handpicked and carefully selected. This painstaking and time-consuming task delivers the best fruits, which are then pressed and transformed into wine using the most advanced and innovative technologies, thus achieving the maximum quality for the wines produced at the winery.
The store is called Caliscana, which is also the name of the estate. The introducing tag line reads "un punto di vino ... per un incontro divino", or "a wine point ... for a divine meeting". Please notice the play on words between di vino (of wine), and divino (divine). In addition to the complete line of Caliscana quality wines, the store offers local quality food products and accessories.
