GAUDIO (Gruppo Amici Uniti Di Indole Oraziana, or Group of United Friends of Horatian Indolence, the exclusive Bolognese club whose purpose is to enjoy and promote the great and minimal pleasures of life, recently took an extremely interesting tour of discovery of some of the most important Sicilian wine estates. The group visited the western part of the island, following an itinerary which took them across the provinces of Trapani, Agrigento and Palermo.

Lead by the group president, Piero Valdiserra, the GAUDIO associates visited five great Sicilian producers.
- The Cantina Settesoli (Seven Suns Winery), the extensive vitivinicultural group from Menfi, which currently manages 6,000 hectares (over 14,826 acres) of vineyards,
- The Baglio Planeta, on the shores of the Lago Aranci (Lake of the Oranges), where the Bolognese lovers of the good life were entertained by Gigi Planeta himself,
- The Baglio Hopps, on the outskirts of Marsala. This is one of the most ancient quality producers of the island, and among the first enterprises to produce and market Marsala dessert wine at the beginning of the 19th century,
- The Vinicola Calatrasi in San Cipirello, a modern and efficient winery which produces various lines of wine, in and out of Sicily, and, finally,
- The estate of Filiberto Sallier de La Tour, Prince of Camporeale, where the visitors enjoyed the extraordinary estate wines made with native vines as well as international grapes.

As usual, during the visits the members of the Bolognese Club discussed, tasted, commented and, in the end, purchased several wine bottles to take home, to enjoy among them back in Bologna.

The GAUDIO club was founded in Bologna in 1997. The activities pursued by the group is the appreciation of good food, good wine, good cigars, enogastgronomic and hot springs tourism, as well as the materialistic culture at large. To this end, the reference in the name to Horatio is not casual. In fact, the great classic Greek poet stood for the measured undertaking of material pleasure. Right from its beginning, GAUDIO, which in Italian is synonymous of joyful pleasure, has been truly active in organizing evening galas and events in Bologna as well as in many other Italian cities and regions.
