Flavor Festival: Balsamic and Friends
|
| Tortellini pasta from Castelfranco Emilia |

The event celebrates individual 'sensorial experiences', starting with the Incontro Balsamico (Balsamic Encounter). With soothing music in the background and enveloped in a scenography totally dedicated to the product, all the production secrets that make the Oro Nero di Modena (Modena's Black Gold), or the Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena (Traditional Balsamic Vinegar from Modena, or ABTM) and the Aceto Balsamico di Modena (Balsamic Vinegar from Modena) will be revealed to participants.
Questa sera cucino io: il Balsamico nel piatto (Tonight I'm Cooking: Balsamic Vinegar in Dishes), is the title of the cooking focused on Aceto Balsamico di Modena, which reveales how to get the best from this extraordinary product used in traditional local recipes.
Una ricetta al giorno (One Recipe a Day) will take place in the Renaissance-styled market space of Via Albinelli. Here, well appreciated Modena chefs explain, and prepare live, some of the most famous Modenese recipes.
In addition to the local food 'gurus', the Festival del Gusto will have activities for the little ones. L'Appetito vien giocando (Appetite Comes While Playing) are a series of flavor laboratories dedicated to children. Organized by the local chapter of Slow Food and the Fattorie Didattiche (Teaching Farms), the workshops explain traditional local products such as the Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, and the Lambrusco wine. This is an opportunity to introduce the new generation to the Modenese culinary legacy, as well as a way to teach them how to appreciate healthful foods and genuine products.
Forme e Sapori (Shapes and Flavors), is the theme of the art exhibition of works by Modena's Venturi Art Institute dedicated to food.
Una Piazza da Gustare (A Square to Savor), will bring Piazza Matteotti to life. With a single ticket, visitors may taste all the specialty products presented, from the traditional borlenghi, to zampone, to tortellini from Castelfranco Emilia and many more.

In nearby Piazza Grande (Big Square), the Mercatini del Gusto (Little Flavor Markets) will offer the opportunity to take home some of Modenese charm in the form of specialty foods, delicacies and munchies.
Modenatur, a local tour operator locale specializing in enogastronomic tours, proposes Weekend del Gusto (Flavor Weekend), varius custom packages that, in addition to the Festival del Gusto, offers guided visits to acetaie del Balsamico (Balsamic vinegar factories) and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese production facilities, with stops at the most appreciated restaurants in the area and, upon request, visits to the Ferrari race car headquarters in Maranello, or to the fabric factories of Carpi, among others.
