Staff Writer - September 30, 2005

From the 7th to 9th of October 2005, the best Italian chocolate makers, including Danilo Freguja, world champion of culinary art, converge upon Sestola, in the foothills of the Modenese Apennines, for the Third Annual 'Chocolate and Almond Crunch Games'. The great extravaganza created by chocolate master Marisa Tognarelli, this year includes a series of interesting initiatives dedicated not exclusively to chocolate buffs.

The event starts in the afternoon of Friday, October 7, at the city Castle, where culinary art world champion, Maestro Cioccolatiere (Chocolate Master) Danilo Freguja, presents a multimedia lesson dedicated to the children of the elementary and high school. Afterwards, Maestro Freguja, supported by producers of typical Emilian specialty food, will guide a food tasting. In the evening, at the Taverna Wine Café, is planned the, by now classic, tasting entitled 'Distillati & Cioccolato', or 'Spirits & Chocolate', moderated by Freguja and a representative of the Berta Distilleries.

The event will kick offon Saturday and Sunday, when the streets of downtown Sestola will be 'assaulted' by thousands of sweet-toothed tourists who, as seen in the previous years, will certainly mob the booths of the Maestros chocolate makers arrived from all over Italy.

The entertainers of Modena Radio City will be among the public engaging visitors with games, jokes and interviews. In addition, they'll cover the top moments of the event live and, at the radio headquarters in Piazza Torre (Tower Square), they will give away numerous, valuable prizes.

Starting at 7:00PM on Saturday, the program include the presentation of the historic comedy by local writer Daniele Bondi entitled "Una torta per Modena Capitale" ("A Cake for Modena the Capital) a show that had great success when it was first presented on June 26, 2005, in Modena's Piazza Grande (Big Square), during the Serate Estensi Festival. The evening closes with the gala dinner at the restaurant "Al Poggio".

On Sunday the 9th, visitors will assault the chocolate booths once more and take part in the 'live' production of chocolate sculptures and fruit and vegetable carving, under the supervision respectively of Danilo Freguja and Italian champion Orlando Scaggiante. At the end, Modena Radio City will present the prizes in great style.
