Welcome Grape Harvest!
Staff Writer - August 18, 2005

Benvenuta VendemmiaIn September, in all the Italian wineries associated to the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Movement for Wine Tourism).

After the May appointment of Cantine Aperte (Open Wineries), wit 1.2 million visitors in over 1000 estates, and the August Calici di Stelle (Star's Stem Glasses) festival, on Sunday, September 18, 2005 the Movimento Turismo del Vino launches the summer-end date during one of the key moments of winemaking. The appointment is for a day spent at the various wineries or, to be correct, in the fields and in the vineyards, to feel the unique atmosphere that permeates this delicate phase of the wine production, that is, the harvesting of the grapes and the first steps undertaken at the wineries: perfumes, flavors, sensations, ancestral emotions, but also trepidation for the wine entrepreneurs.

As it is the case with Cantine Aperte, the most widely known event organized buy the Movimento Turismo del Vino, in addition to offering the unique opportunity to observe without filters the very first steps of winemaking, the Benvenuta Vendemmia event allows for a healthy open air day spent in the countryside, while participating to a big collective rite of sort. The program, in fact, calls for hikes among the vines, tasting of typical products paired with the local wines, folkloric shows, exhibitions of enological tools and much more. All the activities aim to highlight the fundamental theme of the event, that is, expand the relationship with the land and the wine, which represent the most expressive product of the soil personality and characteristics.

The Benvenuta Vendemmia event takes place at the same time all over Italy, with the only exception of the few zones where the regional climate condition dictate different dates. The program is updated on an ongoing basis. (Click here for the latest updates).
