The Balsamic Golf Trophy (BGT) event, created by Loris Stradi, owner of Golf & Food, is ramping up for the third annual.

Building on the success of the previous events, that, by the way, were supported by the Provincia di Modena administration, the BGT 2005 aims to further its mission promoting the local typical agriculture and food products.

The Trophy 2005 includes eight golf tournaments between March 20 and June 2, 2005 at various important northern Italian golf courses. The BGT players will have time to taste and enjoy the best loved typical products of the Modenese tradition. From the Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena (Traditional Balsamic Vinegar from Modena, also called the 'Black Gold'), to Parmigiano-Reggiano (a variety of the Parmesan cheese produced in both the Parma and Reggio Emilia regions), and Prosciutto di Modena, Lambrusco di Modena, nocino (liqueur made with green, unripe walnuts), amaretti biscotti, tigelle, to mention but a few.

"The BGT goal," said Stradi, "is to increase the number of tourists that visit our province, to promote the 'Modenese trademark' culturally in addition to enogastronomically." The 30,000 points of contact spread throughout about 100 golf clubs, or one third of the Italian clubs, are the foundation upon which the event is based.

Collateral perks, such as complimentary typical products, a complimentary stay in a local B&B and a complimentary subscription to 'Golf and News' magazine, add value to this third annual.
