Wine Road Associations, tour operators, wineries and distilleries participated in the first ever Festival dell'Enoturismo (Festival of Enological Tourism), the unique trade show dedicated to wine tourism. The event took place at the Fiera di Vicenza (Vicenza Trade Show Pavilion), from October 23 to 25, 2009.

Eighty two exhibitors from eight Italian regions, roughly half of whom were wineries or distilleries, took part in the event along with 22 Strade del Vino, tour operators, service organizations, and associations dedicated to promoting eno-tourism.
Among the participants was Chef Gualtiero Marchesi, president of the Italian government commission Sostegno e Promozione del Turismo Enogastronomico (Support and Promotion for Wine and Food Tourism), which met on Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Vicenza, under the auspices of Italian Tourist Minister, Michela Vittoria Brambilla. During the event, Marchesi announced an upcoming show in Milan, Italy in the spring of 2010, to celebrate his fifty-year career.
On Sunday, October 25th, grappa took center stage with the talk show Turisti in Distilleria (Tourists at the Distillery), with the participation of Paolo Brunello, Jacopo Poli, Vittorio Capovilla, Fausto Maculan, Elena Schiavon and Ivan Dal Toso. The speakers points of view were diverse, and at times even conflicting, however they all agreed on the potential offered by grappa and distilled spirits in promoting gourmand-based tourism.
The competition is open to all residents of the European Union.
To participate, please write a short report, either in Italian or in English, about your experience at the show and publish it online in a blog, on Facebook, or on Twitter.
The Festival dell'Enoturismo is promoted by Promoveneto, in collaboration with the Veneto region administration, and the provinces of Vicenza and Treviso, with the support of the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Movement for Wine Tourism) and the association Città del Vino (Wine Cities.)

The exhibitors were particularly satisfied with the interest and competence shown by the public. Thirty tour operators from various parts of Europe participated in the workshop held on Saturday afternoon, opened by the vice president of the Veneto region, Franco Manzato. For the occasion, Manzato announced a new promotional initiative for Veneto wines: a microchip inserted in the labels which can be read by the latest generation of smart phones, providing information about the wine, as well as about the history and culture of the areas where the wines are produced.
As the same time as the first Festival dell'Enoturismo, the second Durello Wine Festival took place. During this festival seven hundred bottles of the Monti Lessini native sparkling wine were poured. The annual award, entitled Giornalista del Durello (Durello Journalist) went to Francesco Soletti, author of the book 'A tavola con il Durello' ('Dining with Durello'.)
