Vino novello (nouveaux wine), new vintages and warm welcome Veneto style
Sunday, November 15, the day dedicated to San Martino in Cantina 2009 (Saint Martin in the Cellar 2009) is less than a month away, and the 30 wineries from Veneto associated with the organization Movimento Turismo del Vino (Movement for Wine Tourism) which participate in the end of harvest celebration are busy getting ready for it.
The new vintages ready to be released and the vino novello will be at the center of the event, however some wineries will pour well aged and ripe bottles as well. As usual, the wines will be paired with typical and seasonal products, such as local cheeses and cold cuts of various kind, as well as roasted ducks, homemade bread, and the true star of the fall season in this part of Italy: chestnuts.
In addition to the palate, the tables covered with food will satisfy the eye of the eno-tourists, whose only conundrum will be what to choose among the various offerings.
To welcome visitors in the best possible way, some wineries strongly suggest reserving in advance. Should you like the program offered by one of such wineries, we suggest contacting the estate as soon as possible, to make sure that there are still places available.
For those who desire to extend the experience, some estates offer a Cena col Vignaiolo (Dinner with the Vintner) and/or the Cantina del Buon Dormire (Good Sleep at the Winery), to spend time and mingle with the wine professionals starting Saturday night.
