The Modena chapter of the Associazione Italiana Sommeliers, (AIS, or Italian Association of Sommeliers), in collaboration with the Municipality of Carpi and the Accademia Italiana della Cucina (Italian Cuisine Academy), is organizing a two-day event dedicated exclusively to Lambrusco, the native vine most representative of the history, terroir, and culture of the Emilian part of the Padana valley, especially in the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

"Lambrusco: Ancient Vine, Modern Passion"
Convention introduced by Carpi's mayor, Enrico Campedelli, assisted by the chair of the Accademia Italiana della Cucina, Lauro Benetti, and the director of the Associazione Cittą del Vino (Cities of Wine Association), Paolo Benvenuti.
In addition, the national president of the Italian Association of Sommeliers, Terenzio Medri, will present the historic and philosophical profile of the Lambrusco.
The convention will close with a speech by the National President of the Italian Cuisine Academy, Giovanni Ballarini.

Carpi, Loggia del Cortile d'Onore di Palazzo Pio
Tasting of Lambrusco DOC
Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, 2009, from 6 to 8PM, inside the prestigious Honor Court of Palazzo Pio, a group of 40 sommeliers of Emilian chapter of AIS, will pour various types of Lambrusco DOC, from the typical Modenese to that from Reggio Emilia, Mantua and the Lambrusco from the Parma Hills.
The tasting tables are open to the public and participation is free of charge.
