Federvini was founded in 1917 and to date, it is the only National Organization within Europe to represent the whole alcoholic drink sector – with the exclusion of beer – as well as vinegar, syrups and grape juices.
The organization, which is a member of the Confindustria as well as a founding member of Federalimentare, represents prestigious brands of very old tradition with a relevant role in the very Italian culture and way of life.
The main goal of Federvini is to protect and support the interests of its associate members, promoting laws that regulate the production and marketing of alcoholic products, in addition to argue the workers' rights and wages at a national level.
In addition to being an active part of working committees at Confindustria and Fedralimentare, in Italy Federvini participates actively in the works of the following organizations:
- National Committee for Wines with Denomination of Origin and for Regional Wines (DOC and IGT)
- Technical Consulting Committee for Agricultural Alcohol of the Ministry of Agriculture;
- Working Group of “Codex Alimentarius”
In the European Union, its experts operate within the following organizations:

The main goals of Federvini are:
- To represent and protect the interests of its associate members when either new laws, regulations and other legal provisions, or revisions of such, are being prepared.
This is done through the systematic representation of the industrial sectors in all cases concerning:- food and vitivinicultural discipline,
- production, packaging, transportation and trading,
- direct and indirect taxation.
- To monitor the preparation of EU legislative and/or regulatory acts, in order to protect the interests of the associated members with regards to the European Community laws.
The importance of operating at this level is fundamental since the European Community Offices have a central role in enacting food and beverage legislation as well as in vitivinicultural matters. - To maintain relations with other relevant trade Associations within the European Union.
- To monitor and serve as a liaison with specific Offices and Institutions outside the European Union, to solve specific problems that might arise with EU member states.
- To educate and inform the public opinion about the intrinsic qualities of the products represented.
