Bookmark and ShareThe commercial farm Azienda Agricola Garuti is located in the heart of the countryside surrounding Sorbara, the hometown of the renowned and appreciated Lambrusco wine of the same name. This very fertile zone is enclosed in an area where the Panaro and Secchia rivers are so close to each other that the banks almost touch, and the alluvial soil is rich in potassium, and its loose, sandy, permeable structure makes it ideal for the cultivation of the Lambrusco di Sorbara grapevines.

Garuti

For generations now, the Azienda Agricola Garuti has grown the prized native vine to produce very high quality Lambrusco DOC, with the utmost respect for the local wine making tradition. For this reason the estate is part of the Consorzio di Tutela dei Lambruschi Modenesi (Consortium for the Protection of the Lambrusco from Modena).

In the 1920s, Dante Garuti began to grow grapevines in his land and to produce wine with a symbiotic combination of tradition and cutting edge technology. to this day the wines are produced using the most up-to-date and modern production techniques, but without compromising the traditional authenticity of the finished product.

The superiority and quality of the Azienda Agricola Garuti vines has been confirmed on various occasions by the many national awards won, including among others the Gold Medal at the Palio dei Vini Frizzanti Matilde di Canossa – Ghirlandina d'Oro (Matilde di Canossa Lightly Sparkling Wine Competition – Gold Ghirlandina), the Silver Medal at the Selezione del Sindaco (the Mayor's Selection), and one Medal at the Doujà D'or D'Asti national competition.

for a long time, part of the grapes produced by the Trebbiano vines have been dedicated to the production of the cooked must used to make the traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena DOP.

Spumante Extra Dry Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC GioiaIn fact, for over thirty years now the commercial farm has been running balsamic vinegar factory featuring various series of vaselli, that is, barrels of various sizes and wood from which, over the long years of ageing, the balsamic vinegar from Modena acquires the unmistakable aroma and organoleptic characteristics which makes a widely imitated, though unparalleled unique quality food product and which provides the vinegar with its unmistakable aroma as it matures over the years.

Apart from the extremely strict quality control enforced by the various consortiums, a universal recipe for the production of traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena DOP does not exist. The production of this truly unique product is based upon an operational passion passed down within families from generation to generation, along with the know-how and the production insights which in the end determine the nuances in flavor and aroma which differentiates one quality product from another of equal quality, but with different characteristics.

In addition to typically Emilian wines and traditional balsamic vinegars and condiments from Modena, the Azienda Agricola Garuti produces excellent wine and balsamic vinegar jellies, which are delicious paired with cheese, grilled meat and seafoods.

The latest creation of the winery though, which was presented for the first time in May 2010, is a full sparkling pink extra dry sparkling wine called Gioia (Happiness.) This delicately strawberry-flavored gem is made with 100% Lambrusco di Sorbara grapes harvested at night, between midnight and 4AM, in order for the grapes to retain the most intense flavor and aromas when processed at a temperature kept strictly below 16°C. (60.8°F.)

In striving to preserve the gastronomic traditions of their own home land, the Garuti family has since long time run an agriturismo for tourist gourmands who wish to discover, or rediscover, the rich, traditional flavors of the Modena cuisine paired with the wines produced in their own winery. In addition, the country inn features a conference hall for enterprises which wish to meet in an quiet, private environment in direct contact with nature.
